Metro Manila, Philippines – Three public works officials in the Bulacan first district, including dismissed assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez, have been perpetually disqualified from holding public office over links to anomalous flood control projects, the Department of Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
In a decision dated Sept. 15, Secretary Vince Dizon said Hernandez, construction division chief Jaypee Mendoza, and accountant Juanito Mendoza were found guilty of the following administrative cases:
+ disloyalty to the country and the people
+ grave misconduct
+ gross neglect in the performance of duty
+conduct prejudicial to the interest of service
The DPWH said retirement benefits of the dismissed officials will be forfeited. Dizon earlier ordered a similar verdict against Bulacan district engineer Henry Alcantara.
Alcantara, Hernandez, and the Mendozas were among the 20 DPWH officials facing criminal complaints, including malversation of public funds and violation to the anti-graft and corrupt practices act and the government procurement law.
