Metro Manila, Philippines – More than 100 schoolchildren from the Dao-angan Tribe in Barangay Maling, Balbalan received essential educational and health supplies on Aug. 5, as part of a large-scale outreach initiative led by the Asia’s Golden Icon Awards organization.
The aid distribution took place at Kabugao Elementary School and included school bags, hygiene kits, slippers, rice packs, vitamins, books, desktop computers, and meals — bringing joy and much-needed support to the community.
The initiative is part of Golden Icons’ ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts focused on empowering indigenous communities across the country.
“This program not only symbolizes but also reflects the genuine commitment of our Executive Board to uplift and inspire the Dao-angan Tribe,” said Dr. Ronnel Ybanez, Founder and Chairman of Golden Icons.
He noted that the group aims to inspire resilience among indigenous youth and build sustainable partnerships for long-term impact.
The project was made possible through the support of local stakeholders, including the 103rd Infantry “Mabalasik” Battalion of the 5th Infantry Division, the local government unit and school heads.
“This donation is just the beginning,” Dr. Ybanez added. “Golden Icons is committed to launching long-term and sustainable initiatives aimed at transforming indigenous communities and improving their quality of life.”
The Golden Icons Executive Board and Awards Council is composed of high-level leaders from business, government, and civil society. Through its programs, Golden Icons aims not only to improve access to education and health resources but also to cultivate a sense of hope and inclusion among indigenous youth.
