Transport officials launch Alabang-Makati P2P bus route

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) officials on Monday (April 25) opened a third route for commuters of the point-to-point (P2P) bus system: the Alabang-Makati line.

From 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., a bus will depart every 30 minutes from Alabang Town Center and proceed straight to Greenbelt 1 in Makati and vice versa. A one-way trip will cost commuters P80.

According to some of the line’s new passengers, the P2P is cheaper than a shuttle ride from Alabang to Makati. “Nakatipid ako ng 20 pesos so pang-breakfast ko na,” said John Andrada.

“Less hassle and may ma-save sa pamasahe namin,” Lorraine Tambangan pointed out.

The line is operated by RRCG Transport. It is the third P2P route currently operational, including Froehlich Tours’ Trinoma-Makati line and HM Transport’s Ortigas-Makati line.

“We hope that other bus operators will also join us in our bid to raise the standards for public transportation by offering higher quality services to commuters,” said Transportation and Communications Sec. Joseph “Jun” Abaya in a statement.

DOTC said in a statement that a North EDSA-Ortigas route will be opened this week. Officials are also planning Alabang-Ortigas and Fairview-Makati routes.
