Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — As of Monday (January 4), the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 839 cases of firecracker-related injuries nationwide.
This is just one percent (11 cases) lower than last year’s figure — although the tally is not yet finished and will continue until the next day, January 5.
Seven of the cases were due to stray bullets, while one was caused by firecracker ingestion.
Of all the incidents, the DOH said only one resulted in death.
Piccolo remained the cause of most injuries — followed by kwitis, unknown types of firecrackers, luces, and five star.
