Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 4) — A woman who collapsed early Monday in the MRT died hours later in a hospital, a statement from the Transportation Department said.
Marielle Ann J. Mar, a 26-yr old passenger, fell unconscious inside a southbound train approaching Ortigas Station at 9:48 a.m.
The DOTr clarified that the air-conditioning unit was working at the time and the trains were not as congested.
Mar was carried out of the train by station guards. She was brought to Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center (VRPMC) in Mandaluyong.
She was declared dead at 12:05 p.m.
“DOTr and MRT-3 extend their sincerest condolences to the bereaved family of Ms. Mar, and has extended all necessary assistance, including defrayment of medical and funeral expenses,” their statement added.
The family has not released any statement on Mar’s pre-existing condition and autopsy.
