Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 1) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday named John Castriciones acting secretary of the Agrarian Reform Department.
Castriciones, the former Interior undersecretary for operations, took over Rafael Mariano, whom the Commission on Appointments rejected in September over questions of partiality and ties with the communists.
Mariano was among the Leftists appointed by Duterte in the Cabinet.
Castriciones was one of three Interior undersecretaries linked to former Interior Secretary Ismael Sueño’s ouster.
Duterte fired Sueño during a Cabinet meeting in April.
However, the three Interior officials are facing a corruption complaint.
Castriciones actively campaigned for Duterte’s 2016 presidential campaign.
