MMDA: No weekday mall-wide sale for 2017

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — To help reduce traffic in Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) extended its no weekday mall-wide sale policy for the entire year.

In a press release Saturday, MMDA said mall owners and operators recognized the effectivity of the policy during the holiday season, which started in October 2016.

The prohibition on weekday sale is only for mall-wide scales.

Other crowd-gathering events are also prohibited, and deliveries are only allowed from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.

MMDA will also train mall operators and owners on traffic management.

“We will … have them deputized so they can issue traffic violation receipts to erring motorists within their areas of jurisdiction,” MMDA General Manager Tim Orbos said in a press release.
