
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 19)— It will remain rainy in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon as ‘Nimfa’ (international name: Tapah) picked up speed while travesing a northwesterly path, the weather bureau said late Thursday.
In its 11 p.m. update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said there will be light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over the Bicol Region, Pangasinan, Mindoro provinces, Romblon, Marinduque, and Calamian Islands, while scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will affect the rest of Luzon.
In an earlier update. PAGASA said Nimfa is still unlikely to make landfall. The tropical storm is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning.
“Nimfa” was last spotted 715 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kph. PAGASA said the storm is moving at 15 kph, wheras it was “almost stationary” earlier.
