Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 5) — The Manila field office of the United States’ immigration agency will close on July 5, in its move to streamline international workload to domestic offices.
In its statement, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said the Manila office last accepted applications and petitions on May 31.
It has redirected the Form I-130 or the Petition for Alien Relative to the USCIS Lockbox since May 14. This form is used by lawful permanent U.S. residents to jumpstart the immigration process of foreign relatives.
“The U.S. Embassy in Manila will assume responsibility for certain limited services previously provided by USCIS to individuals residing in the Philippines,” it added.
Other instructions for filing the petitions are now available at the website with the field office’s impending closure. <LINK: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/international-offices/philippines-uscis-manila-field-office>
The USCIS, with over 19,000 employees in 200 countries all over the world, oversees lawful U.S. immigration. It processes applications for U.S. citizenship, as well as those seeking jobs.
Applications for visas made by foreign nationals in foreign countries are issued by the Department of State.
