Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 20) – It looks like people in Mindanao will have a rainy Christmas.
Based on Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s monitoring on Friday, a low pressure area east of Mindanao has developed into a tropical depression.
It was last spotted 2,370 kilometers east of the island region with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of 60 kph.
If it keeps its track, PAGASA said the tropical depression will enter the country on Tuesday or Wednesday, Christmas Day, and will be named Urduja.
It is expected to dump heavy rains over parts of the southern Philippines and Visayas beginning Tuesday.
Meanwhile, another LPA last spotted 605 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur will bring rainshowers in parts of Visayas and Mindanao, but PAGASA said there’s little chance it will be a tropical cyclone.
