Elizabeth Yu-Gokongwei, wife of late business tycoon, dies

The Palace moruned the passing of the matriarch.

“A gentle, loving, kind, caring and selfess human being, Mrs. Elizabeth was. She will be dearly missed,” it said. 

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines)— Elizabeth Yu-Gokongwei, the wife of late business tycoon John Gokongwei, Jr., died on Saturday— a week after her husband’s passing. She was 85.

This was confirmed by Director for Corporate Advertising and Public Relations for JG Summit Viveca Singson.

The couple is survived by their six children Robina, Lance, Lisa, Faith, Hope, and Marcia.

The Gokongwei family’s flagship conglomerate JG Summit Holdings Inc. lists companies in various industries, including the Robinsons mall chain, property developer Robinsons Land Corporation, food and beverage company Universal Robina Corporation, and budget airline Cebu Pacific.

JG Summit Holdings, Inc. also owns stakes at Robinsons Bank, Manila Electric Company (Meralco), JG Summit Petrochemicals, PLDT Inc., Global Business Power Corporation, and United Industrial Corporation/Singapore Land.

The family said the wake will be private.
