Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 3) — The Metro Rail Transit-3 has assured that none of its COVID-19 positive personnel got in contact with train passengers.
In addition to this, DOTr-MRT-3 Director for Operations Michael Capati told CNN Philippines’ Newsroom Ngayon on Friday that all depot personnel of the MRT-3 already underwent swab testing. Those who have received negative results have returned to work, but many are still waiting for their test results, Capati said.
MRT-3 reported that 127 of its personnel tested positive for the virus. Of which, 124 are depot personnel of the rail line’s maintenance provider while three are railway workers.
Capati said these workers were all asymptomatic and tested negative after an initial rapid test the management conducted.
The DOTr announced on Thursday that only 10 to 12 trains, from 16 to 19, will be deployed starting Monday due to the situation. This will be based on the number of maintenance workers who could go to work next week, it said.
