Tributes, condolences pour in for actress Anita Linda

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 10) — Social media lit up with posts expressing sadness over the death of actress Anita Linda.

News of Linda’s passing was posted by director Adolfo Alix on Facebook Wednesday.

“This is a very sad day for me. I am trembling as I am gathering my thoughts… She is like my Lola and part of my family. The great Anita Linda has passed away this morning at 6:15AM at 95 years of age. Prayers for her soul. My condolences to her family and her children, Francesca Legaspi and Fred Osburn,” he wrote

Alix directed Linda in the 2008 film, “Adela.” She won best actress in the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival for her role.

Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairperson Liza Diño was among those who expressed her grief online. She shared a photo of her and the veteran actress, with a caption that read in part, “It was such a humbling experience to have been able to spend a moment with one of our country’s living treasures.”

Linda was the country’s oldest active actor.

In 2019, Linda was honored by the FDCP for her contributions to Philippine cinema. She has also received numerous awards for the roles she has played throughout her career.
