Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 10) — After setting up an appointment scheme, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is eyeing to launch a drive-thru system to make registration easier for an EasyTrip RFID installation.
In an interview with CNN Philippines’ Traffic Center on Tuesday, MPTC chief communication officer Romulo Quimbo said this kind of system will make things easier for motorists in terms of RFID installation.
“We would like to pursue a drive-thru system, whereby people don’t have to fall in line physically,” he said. “You all have just to be in your car, and wait for the installer and give you the RFID sticker.”
MPTC has launched an appointment-only system on Sunday. It is called Online RFID Reservation and Appointment System (ORRAS) for motorists for a more convenient process of registration.
Motorists can book an appointment by scanning a QR code found in the social media platforms of MPTC.
Quimbo said MPTC has received at least 12,000 requests for appointments from motorists in three days since its launch. He also stressed that vehicle owners can still register for an RFID beyond Dec. 1, when toll ways will implement cashless transactions.
