MMFF 2020 goes online amid COVID-19 pandemic

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 9) – This year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will push through amid the ongoing pandemic.

MMFF spokesperson Noel Ferrer announced on Instagram that the film entries can be viewed through a partner streaming service in December, which will be announced soon.

The biggest news is that MMFF will go online this year and the partner worldwide streaming service will be announced in the coming days) ensuring that the biggest, the most popular and the longest running Filipino film festival will be happening everywhere – recreating happy traditions, and experiencing MMFF beyond-the-movies – together with the whole family,” said Ferrer in his post.

Ferrer added that the MMFF executive committee also decided to move the deadline of submission for finished films from Oct. 15 to Nov. 15. Meanwhile, the deadline for finished films based on approved scripts was also moved from Oct. 31 to Nov. 30.

The deadline adjustments will give producers and filmmakers time to polish their works, said Ferrer.

MMFF already announced last July the first four official entries this year. They are “Praybeyt Benjamin 3” starring Vice Ganda; horror-flick “Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan” with Joshua Garcia; comedy-horror film “The Exorcism of My Sizzums” starring sisters Toni and Alex Gonzaga; and fantasy-adventure “Magikland.”

But here are some important announcements sa mga gustong sumali pa sa mga finished film entries. Acknowledging the challenges ng film shooting ngayon, the deadline for finished film submission is moved from October 15 to NOVEMBER 15. Samantalang ang finished films based on the approved scripts ay may bagong deadline from Oct 31 to NOVEMBER 30. This will give producers and filmmakers more time na puliduhin pa ang kanilang mga entries. They just have to fill out the forms for resubmission. Magkikita-kita tayo ONLINE!!! #MMFF2020Updates #PEPAlerts #PEPTroika
