PBA: San Miguel ships Kelly Nabong back to NorthPort for Russel Escoto

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 9) — The San Miguel Beermen have traded bruiser Kelly Nabong to the NorthPort Batang Pier in exchange for lanky forward Russel Escoto.

The PBA announced the deal on its official Twitter account Thursday.

The beleaguered Nabong is still suspended indefinitely following his involvement in a fight during the Beermen’s team practice last November. The scuffle, which included then-import Dez Wells, Arwind Santos and Ronald Tubid, affected the team as they were eliminated by Barangay Ginebra in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.

This is Nabong’s third stint with NorthPort. He played for the team from 2013 to 2015 and in 2017 to 2018.

Meanwhile, this is Escoto’s third team in less than a year after suiting up for the Columbian Dyip and the Batang Pier.

Escoto averaged 3.7 points on a 47-percent shooting from deep and 2.4 rebounds in his lone conference for NorthPort.
