Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 5) — The city government of Manila expanded its COVID-19 inoculation drive to include delivery workers and market vendors during its overnight vaccination on Sunday.
The local government launched the overnight vaccination drive—from 10pm to 5am in Recto—for market vendors, helpers, and drivers who do their trades in Manila public markets.
“Hindi lang [ito para] sa Kamaynilaan pati na rin mula sa Northern Luzon, Central Luzon at Southern Luzon,” it said in a Facebook post.
[Translation: This is not exclusive for Manila, but also to market workers from Northern Luzon, Central Luzon at Southern Luzon.]
The city government did not say if the vaccination drive will continue in the next few days.
Late in June, Manila received 400,000 more COVID-19 vaccine doses from China’s Sinovac. Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso earlier said its 800,000 purchased doses from British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca will also arrive in Manila “earlier than expected”, but he did not specify a date.
