With a year left before his term ends, Duterte was asked what he will share as his legacy in his last State of the Nation Address (SONA).
“Nothing. All I want is for people to just look around. Ito [LRT-2]. Hindi ko ipagyabang. Unang una, hindi ko ito pera,” Duterte said during the inauguration of the LRT-2 East Extension Project in Antipolo City Thursday.
[Translation: Just like this LRT-2. I will not brag about it. First of all, it was not my money.]
“I will just mention what were the projects completed, without necessarily attributing the miracle to me,” he added. “Worker ako ng government. Nagtrabaho lang ako, so wala akong dapat ipagyabang.”
[Translation: I’m just a government worker. I just did my job, so there’s nothing to brag about.]
The President said credit should go to officials who worked on the ground.
“Ako ba ay nagpagod dito? Ako ba yung nasa ground? Lahat sila (Did I tire working on this? Was I the one on the ground? It was them)…the workers of government, especially those who are appointed and who have worked so well. The credit should go to them,” he said.
Duterte will deliver his last SONA on July 26.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 1) – President Rodrigo Duterte will not brag about his administration’s accomplishments, saying he wants people to just “look around” and see what the government has done.
