
Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported 21 new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos, bringing the total cases abroad to 20,773.
Of the total, 50,037 or 3.6% are active or people currently sick, with 90.4% experiencing mild symptoms, 4.4% asymptomatic, 1.5% critical, 2.1% in severe condition, and 1.54% having moderate symptoms.
Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 24,557 or 1.74% of the nationwide tally after 101 more patients lost their lives to the disease. The recovery count also jumped to 1,333,464 or 94.7% of the total cases after 6,471 more got better.
The DOH said nine duplicates were removed from the nationwide tally, including seven recoveries.
It added that 28 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases while 75 previously reported as recoveries were reclassified as deaths.
All laboratories were operational on June 27, but 14 laboratories were not able to submit their reports on time. These contribute, on average, 5.4% of samples tested and 6.5% of positive cases, the DOH said.
The daily positivity rate or percentage of people who tested positive stood at 10.7% based on 32,044 tests done on June 27. The World Health Organization recommends that positivity rates be below 5% as bigger numbers may indicate high transmission.
Malacañang on Tuesday announced Metro Manila, Rizal, and Bulacan will remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) “with some restrictions” until July 15. Also under GCQ but with “heightened restrictions” until mid-July are Laguna and Cavite.

On the other hand, 27 more Filipinos abroad have recovered from the disease, as the recovery count reached 12,261. The death toll has climbed to 1,229 after two more patients abroad succumbed to the coronavirus.
