Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 10) — NBA Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson on Thursday offered help to a kababayan in Utah who was a victim of a racist crime.
The Filipino-American guard of Utah Jazz quickly stepped in to restore the Yum Yum Food Truck, owned by Filipinos, after it was vandalized with anti-Asian graffiti.
“It hurt me deeply to see that Salt Lake’s @yumyumasian food truck was recently vandalized – I know the pain that hateful language and racism causes,” the pro-baller tweeted.
The owners of the food truck thanked Clarkson, expressing gratitude for the help he is extending to the Filipino community.
“Thank you @JordanClarksons for not only wrapping our food truck, but also for having it detailed at Gorilla Car Wash & for your continued support & encouragement. It means THE WORLD to the community & to us,” it said.
The food truck owners said they will have a grand reopening on Saturday at the Philippine Independence Day celebration in Salt Lake City.
