Bising leaves 4 dead as it accelerates while moving away from landmass

In its 11 p.m. update, PAGASA said no more areas are under any storm warning signal.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in its Thursday update listed another casualty and three more injuries, bringing the tallies to four dead and 13 wounded due to the typhoon.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 22) — At least four have now been reported dead from the onslaught of Typhoon Bising, which the state weather bureau says is maintaining strength as it moves north-northward east of Batanes.

These were recorded in the regions of Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Davao, but the NDRRMC clarified the reports are still up for validation. The initial three fatalities were reported pinned down by trees felled by strong winds.

At least 60,600 families or more than 235,000 individuals have also been temporarily displaced in 965 barangays in Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, CARAGA, and Cagayan Valley, the agency said. These include those who have sought shelter in evacuation centers or in the homes of relatives or friends.

Bising was last located 490 km East of Basco, Batanes or 495 km East of Itbayat, Batanes, moving northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour. It maintained maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Bising is forecast to move generally northeastward tonight until Friday evening before turning east southeast to east on Saturday. The following day, it will move east to east northeast.

Throughout the remaining forecast period, the weather system is seen to gradually weaken and will be downgraded to severe tropical storm category by Friday and tropical storm category by Saturday.

Bising is projected to exit the country’s area of responsibility Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
