
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 4) – The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday recorded 4,439 new COVID-19 cases across the country—the highest single-day tally of infections since February.
It’s the highest count since Feb. 10, when there were 4,575 cases. It was also the last time the nationwide single-day tally reached at least 4,000.
Based on the DOH’s data, confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country have jumped to 3,790,309.
The number of active cases is at 34,213, while the death toll rose to 60,773 after 11 new fatalities were also reported on Thursday. Recoveries are at 3,695,323.
From July 25 to 31, The DOH recorded 24,100 new COVID-19 cases—a 24% increase from the previous week’s tally.
Over 71.7 million people have already received their primary doses of COVID-19 vaccines, which is 91.81% of the target population, according to the DOH. Vaccination among the elderly is at 77.87%, it added.
Meanwhile, around 16.2 million people have already received their booster shots, the DOH said.
