Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 6) — The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) spent ₱272 million for the presidential campaign of its national chairman, president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., according to its Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday.
“The PFP spent ₱272 million by way of expenses in the last 2022 presidential campaign, which is well below the maximum expenditure of ₱337 million allowed by law for a national political party,” George Briones, the party’s general counsel said in a statement.
The 400 page-SOCE was signed and prepared by PFP’s National Treasurer Antonio Lagdameo, Briones said. Marcos recently nominated Lagdameo as Special Assistant to the President.
The Comelec’s deadline for the submission of SOCE is on June 8 or 30 days after election day. Former Comelec Commissioner George Garcia earlier said there will be no extension to this date.
Political parties and candidates are separately required to file their SOCE.
“No person elected to any public office shall enter upon the duties of his office until he has filed the statement of contributions and expenditures herein required,” Republic Act No. 7166 states.
The same prohibition applies if the political party which nominated the winning candidate fails to file the statement required within the period prescribed, according to the law.
Senator Panfilo Lacson was the first presidential candidate to file his SOCE, a list released by the Comelec on June 3 showed.
