Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 23) — Presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday said he still has adequate space to work on with the remaining 2022 national budget to fund his incoming administration.
“There are slight differences because although it has been disbursed, not all of it has been spent, so meron pa tayong [we still have] breathing room pero konti na lang [though little], and so that’s why we will have to look to the new budget, the budget for 2023 which is presently being written,” he said.
“We have to look at that to find sufficient funds for the things we want to do,” he added.
On Sunday, Albay 1st District Representative Edcel Lagman said the current administration of Rodrigo Duterte has already disbursed 90% of the 2022 budget, leaving only 10% for the new administration.

Marcos added his administration plans to “move some public expenditure away from non-investment expenditures to more investment-led expenditures, again, to revitalize, to retool the economy.”
