New Coast Guard OIC appointed as Laroya retires

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 10) — Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade has appointed a new Officer-in-Charge of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) following the retirement of PCG Commandant Admiral Leopoldo Laroya.

Tugade tapped Vice Admiral Eduardo Fabricante as OIC and his term will start on Friday, the Coast Guard announced on its Facebook page.

Fabricante was previously the Deputy Commandant for Operations. He is also a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1989.

Laroya retired on Thursday after more than 38 years of service.
