Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 3)— Twenty-one more illegal workers of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) were sent back to their homeland this week, the second batch deported by the Philippine government, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Thursday.
In a statement, the DOJ said the employees — all Chinese nationals — departed on Wednesday.
No other details were released.
Authorities started the deportation of illegal workers of the sector in October — with six Chinese nationals comprising the first batch.
The department noted it has “seen a decrease” in POGO-related crimes since the crackdown was launched.
“Even so, the Department of Justice will not be complacent,” the DOJ said. “We will remain consistent and focused on our aim to end the illegal POGO industry.”
