Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 23) — At least 10,894 people in Northern Luzon were affected by Tropical Depression Obet, disaster management officials reported Sunday.
In its situational report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 3,217 families across Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) were affected.
As of Sunday morning, six areas in Region 2 were still flooded. The flood in 13 areas was receding while it had subsided in 21 areas.
Evacuation centers in Region 2 housed 155 families or 518 individuals.
Obet also caused two landslides and soil erosion. According to the NDRRMC, nine roads in Cagayan Valley and four roads in CAR were not yet passable as of Sunday morning.
The agency provided aid worth ₱66,570, mostly food packs, to affected families.
The tropical depression left the country’s weather monitoring area on Saturday afternoon. It became a low pressure area while moving towards the South China Sea.
