Cebu cops arrest French national wanted by Paris

Metro Manila, Philippines – Cebu authorities arrested a French national in Catmon town on Thursday, Oct. 29, who is wanted by his country over alleged sexual offenses against minors.

In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said the arrest in Barangay Panalipa was based on a warrant issued by the Tribunal Judiciaire de Montauban in France on March 28, 2024.

The suspect is with the Bureau of Immigration fugitive search unit.

“Ang batas ay hindi natatapos sa hangganan ng isang bansa [The law does not end within the borders of a country]. When there is a lawful request and proper legal basis, we must work with our international partners to ensure that appropriate processes are carried out,” PNP chief PGen Jose Nartatez Jr. said.

“Our country must never become a place where individuals can evade accountability simply by crossing borders,” he added.
