Metro Manila, Philippines – A recent survey showed that respondents still prefer Vice President Sara Duterte as a presidential bet, while Senator Bong Go is top of mind for vice president.
The “Ulat ng Bayan” non-commissioned survey of Pulse Asia showed Duterte with 50 percent, followed by Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo with 26 percent, and Senator Raffy Tulfo 12 percent. The rest had single digit scores.
Duterte said in February that she will run for president in the 2028 general election, a declaration that she has not withdrawn in the middle of an impeachment trial, a grave threats case in court, and allegations of corruption. She also said in a recent statement that she will not resign from office.
Meanwhile, the other vice presidential preferences were Senator Robin Padilla with 19 percent, Senator Bam Aquino, 17 percent; former Senator Grace Poe, 14 percent; and Senator Erwin Tulfo, 10 percent.
The survey was conducted from Sept. 17 to 24 from among 2,400 respondents, the same period when the Senate Impeachment Court tackled the charge of unexplained wealth, false declaration of the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth, and the legal interpretation of the two-thirds voting threshold to convict an impeached official.
It was in the same period that Pulse Asia held a survey that showed half of Filipinos believed Duterte should break her pattern of absence and testify in person before the impeachment court.
