DICT chief silent on resignation rumors

Metro Manila, Philippines – Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda said he “serves at the pleasure of the president” as the grapevine was abuzz over his exit from the Cabinet.

In a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 7, Aguda said he remains focused on carrying out his responsibilities and ensuring the continuous work of the agency. He was silent about the rumors.

“In particular, as the Philippines hosts ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nation) this year, it is important that DICT (Department of  Information and Communications Technology) continues to effectively fulfill its role in advancing our regional engagements on technology and innovation, including the ASEAN AI MSME event this week,” he said.

“As secretary of DICT, I serve at the pleasure of the president, and I fully recognize and respect the president’s prerogative in matters concerning his Cabinet and his administration,” he added.
