Metro Manila, Philippines – Private-sector workers in Central Visayas will receive an additional P42 in their daily minimum wage starting Oct. 14, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Sunday.
The increase will raise the daily minimum wage to P582 in Class A areas and P542 in Class B areas.
The wage adjustment covers workers in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
Around 337,476 private-sector workers are expected to benefit from the increase.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission unanimously affirmed the wage order during its Sept. 26 deliberation at the DOLE Regional Office VII in Cebu.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board VII conducted consultations and public hearings with labor, management and other stakeholders before submitting the wage order for review.
The regional board will proceed with the publication of the wage order following the NWPC’s affirmation.
