Metro Manila, Philippines – The Sandiganbayan Third Division has issued an arrest warrant and hold departure order against Uswag Ilonggo party-list Rep. Jojo Ang over his alleged ties to a construction company in relation to the flood control scandal.
“After a careful review of the resolution and its supporting documents, as well as the records, the court finds that probable cause exists in this case,” the anti-graft court said in their resolution.
The ombudsman charged Ang on July 23 under the anti-graft law, in particular the prohibition on public officers to “have direct or indirect financial interest in any business, contract, or transaction,”
Ang was supposedly paid ₱199 million from the company where he holds shares after it secured ₱214 million in contracts from the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano previously said conflict of interest involving a government official does not require evidence.
The case of Ang is bailable.
