Metro Manila, Philippines – The fight against corruption is the top issue Filipino adults want President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to discuss in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27, according to a Pulse Asia survey.
The polling firm found that 29.8% of respondents want the president to highlight his administration’s efforts to combat corruption, with 18.9%, specifically citing the need to investigate and hold accountable those involved in the flood control projects scandal.
Affordable basic goods ranked second among the issues respondents want the president to address at 18.7%, as concerns over the cost of daily necessities remain a key priority for the people.
This was followed by jobs and livelihood opportunities (6.6%) and poverty (6.2%).
The fight against corruption emerged as the leading concern across several areas, including Metro Manila (35%), the rest of Luzon (32.7%), and Mindanao (29.7%). In the Visayas, however, affordable basic goods ranked highest at 22.7%, followed by corruption at 19.3%.
The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews among 2,400 adults from June 28 to July 6.
