Metro Manila, Philippines – EJ Obiena won his first gold medal of the 2026 outdoor season after ruling the Czeslaw Cybulski Memorial in Poznan, Poland on Monday, June 29.
The two-time Filipino Olympian cleared 5.72 meters on his second attempt to secure the title. He tried to go for a season-best 5.82 meters, but fell short in all three attempts.
Owen Heard of Great Britain and Matteo Oliveri of Italy both cleared 5.60 meters, with Heard claiming the silver medal via countback.
This was Obiena’s second podium finish this season after nabbing silver in Dusseldorf, Germany earlier this month.
