Metro Manila, Philippines – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration has opened an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) lounge at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, expanding services for migrant workers in Central Visayas.
The facility, inaugurated Thursday, June 25, is the third international OFW lounge operated by OWWA after those at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
The lounge can serve up to 80 people and offers free meals and drinks, Wi-Fi, charging stations, resting areas and assistance desks for OFW-related concerns.
OWWA said frontline services, including membership registration and renewal, issuance of the OWWA E-Card and other welfare services, will also be available at the facility.
The lounge is in partnership with Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
The DMW also opened a facilitation center at the airport to assist overseas workers with Overseas Employment Certificates and other travel documents.
In a separate partnership with SSP Mactan Cebu, OWWA said holders of the OWWA E-Card will receive discounts at participating food and retail establishments inside the airport.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan said the facility aims to bring government services closer to overseas Filipino workers.
“We believe our OFWs deserve a lounge of their own in one of the country’s finest international airports,” she said in a statement.
