Metro Manila, Philippines – The state weather bureau further downgraded Francisco into a severe tropical storm on Thursday, June 25, while moving farther away from the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) added that the cyclone may be out of the weather disturbance monitoring area by Thursday afternoon or evening. Wind Signal No. 1 remains over Batanes.
Meanwhile, a tropical storm (TS) may briefly enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday before exiting on Friday. Once in the PAR, it will be given the name Gardo.
PAGASA said that the TS will remain far from land mass. It is likely to weaken into a tropical depression within the next 36 hours.
