Metro Manila, Philippines – Twenty-six people have been rescued after a nine-storey building under construction collapsed along Teodoro Street in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City early Sunday morning, local authorities said.
The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) said 24 people were pulled from the collapsed structure, while two others were rescued from a nearby apartelle struck by the incident.
Authorities said the collapse was reported to emergency responders around 3 a.m., prompting an immediate rescue operation in the area.
Local officials activated the Unified Command System to coordinate response efforts among concerned agencies.
Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II visited the collapse site as search and rescue operations continued. The public was urged to stay away from the area to avoid disrupting ongoing emergency response efforts.
