Metro Manila, Philippines – Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez says she is planning to release a Tagalog extended play (EP) as she returns to Manila for a homecoming concert and fresh from her “America’s Got Talent” win.
Speaking to reporters ahead of her concert, Sanchez revealed that she has been working on new music and hopes to collaborate with Filipino artists for the project.
“I’m also working on maybe releasing a Tagalog EP,” Sanchez said. “So I’m very excited.”
“The thing is, I am learning Tagalog with my daughter right now,” she said. “Of course I’m going to be a part of the creative process… but I do plan on collaborating. So I think that would be very fun.”
Sanchez said becoming a mother has also changed her perspective personally and musically, influencing the direction of her new songs.
“Music has been my identity since I was very young,” she said. “Now I’m becoming a mom, I felt like the Lord was giving me a chance to shift my identity from just being music to now just being Jessica, being a mother, being a wife.”
She added that motherhood has given her a fresh look on her career through her daughter.
“Eliana is just my biggest inspiration,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez recently released her new album “Season,” which she described as deeply personal and reflective of the different stages of her life and career.
“The whole idea of Season is kind of like a little piece of the seasons that I’ve gone through,” she said. “I felt like this was really my season and my time.”
The singer also expressed gratitude for the continued support she receives from Filipino fans around the world.
