UAAP: NU Lady Bulldogs vent ire on winless UE Lady Warriors

Metro Manila, Philippines – The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs bounced back with a 25-19, 25-10, 25-19 victory over the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday, March 4, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Even without rookie sensation Sam Cantada, who has been sidelined over a right shin injury, the Lady Bulldogs got back on the winning track after a stunning loss to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Sunday.

NU bucked a slow start as the Lady Warriors threatened to pull away in the first set with a 15-9 lead, slowly cutting the deficit and dominating the rest of the way.

Arah Panique topscored for the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points, while Cel Marsh and Vange Alinsug contributed 11 points and 10 points for the defending champions, respectively.

Van Bangayan paced UE with 12 markers.

NU improved to 4-1 for second place in the team standings, while the cellar-dwelling Lady Warriors remained winless after five outings.

The Lady Bulldogs will next face the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on March 8 at the Big Dome, while UE will return to action against the league-leading De La Salle University Lady Spikers on March 7 at the same venue.
