UAAP: Jorick Bautista shines as FEU escapes Ateneo in OT for breakthrough victory

Metro Manila, Philippines — The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws ended their losing slump in UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball after repulsing the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, 66-65, in overtime on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Jorick Bautista took over for the Tamaraws in the extra period. He finished with 18 points and five rebounds.

Rookie Kristian Porter knocked down a clutch triple to keep the Blue Eagles within striking distance, 64-62, in the waning seconds of the match.

Mo Konateh iced the game after sinking two crucial free throws for FEU en route to their first win this season.

Royce Alforque contributed 12 points and five rebounds, while Konateh, Janrey Pasaol and Veejay Pre each tallied 10 points for the Tamaraws.

Chris Koon tallied a team-high for Ateneo with 12 markers alongside four boards and three dimes.

The Blue Eagles fell to 1-4 in the team standings.

FEU will next battle the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers on Oct. 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
