Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 24) — The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) saw its busiest day on Saturday, Dec. 23, with a record-breaking 240,000 people flocking to travel home for the holidays.
The count is much higher than the 160,000 logged on Dec. 22, with Filipinos hoping to be back in their provinces ahead of Christmas eve.
On Sunday, the foot traffic has relatively eased, although it has remained high with over 103,000 passengers recorded as of 4 p.m.
The PITX management expects the Dec. 24 tally to reach 180,000.
Officials, meanwhile, earlier said they expect around 1.5 million travelers at airports and another 5.1 million at seaports nationwide this holiday season.
