From TikToks to concerts, many Filipino celebrities had the chance to rub elbows with international artists this year.
CNN Philippines looks back at some of the celebrity interactions that made a buzz online.
1. Andrea Brillantes’ ‘promposal’ at Blackpink’s concert
After being noticed by American singer-songwriter Ariana Grande in 2017, Andrea Brillantes also caught the attention of K-pop superstars Blackpink in March.
The quartet helped the 20-year-old actress in her prom proposal to her then boyfriend Ricci Rivero for ABS-CBN’s Star Magic Ball. The basketball player said “yes” in front of more than 50,000 people at the Philippine Arena.
It was all worth it as the couple received the \”Best Promposal Award\” during the ball. But things did not end well between the two as they separated months after.
2. SB19 and the “Gento” craze
P-pop sensation SB19 took the world by storm when their single \”Gento\” became a popular dance craze after K-pop idols joined the trend.
\”Gento,\” which is part of their second extended play \”PAGTATAG!,\” landed at no. 8 in the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart in June.
SB19 teamed up with Ateez and &Team as they danced together to \”Gento.\”

This was a good year for OPM singer JK Labajo — from making history on Spotify charts, to being invited to perform at the concert of a Grammy-nominated band.
It all started when Labajo commented on one of Lukas Graham’s TikTok posts while they were performing the hit song \”Love Someone,\” saying he was excited to watch their concert in October.
The band later replied and asked the \”Ere\” singer to perform with them.
During the Danish pop band’s concert, Labajo and the group had a duet of each other’s hit songs.
