Palace declares Dec. 26 a special non-working day

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 12) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared Dec. 26, Tuesday, a special non-working day in the country “to give the people the full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones.”

Malacañang on Tuesday issued Proclamation No. 425, which will allow Filipinos to enjoy a \”long weekend\” as this year’s Christmas day, a regular holiday, falls on a Monday.

\”A longer weekend will encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship leading to a better society,\” the proclamation read.

The president further stressed that \”a longer weekend will also promote domestic tourism.\”
