
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 11) — A fire that broke out in a firecracker warehouse in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu left four people dead and six others injured, the local government said Monday.
In a Facebook post, the city public information office said the fire started at around 1:35 p.m. inside the warehouse in Barangay Babag and quickly spread to nearby homes.Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard ‘Ahong’ Chan shared his sadness about a tragic incident in Barangay Babag involving the Berdin family and others,” it said.The victims who were unable to escape the flames were: Chito Berdin, 58; Gwen Berdin-Lucero, 31; Arjay Escubia, 37; and Christian Monsant, 30.
At least six people suffered third-degree burns, including a seven-year-old child.
The local government said at least eight structures were affected. Damage was estimated at P300,000.
