Sen. Marcos denies ‘cracks’ in alliance with Dutertes: ‘Maraming nakikigulo’

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 22) — Sen. Imee Marcos on Wednesday denied supposed cracks in the UniTeam alliance led by her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Vice President Sara Duterte.

The senator said their relationship with former president Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter Sara is fine.

“Maayos naman. Ang mahirap diyan, maraming nakikigulo,” Marcos told reporters.

[Translation: We’re good. The only problem is many are meddling.]

When asked who she was referring to, Marcos said: “Hindi ko alam” (I don’t know).

The president earlier said he maintains an “excellent” relationship with the vice president, and the UniTeam is only getting “stronger.”

Alleged cracks in the UniTeam alliance floated after the House of Representatives, led by the president’s cousin, Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, stripped Duterte of her ₱650-million confidential fund for the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education under the proposed 2024 national budget.

Former president Duterte said he will run for vice president or senator if supposed plans to oust his daughter from office would push through.

Sen. Marcos believes some people are behind the issues.

“Ang akin na lang, ‘yung mga nagpapakana nito na halos kada linggo, may pasabog, sana maawa naman sila sa Pilipinas,” she said. “Ang dami-daming problema; dadagdagan pa ng gulong pulitika.”
