
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 18) — The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers on Saturday bested the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in a razor close match, 57-53, ending their UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball run with two wins and 12 losses.
UST’s showing was an improvement compared with their performance last season, when they won just one game and lost 13 times.
The Tigers kicked off the game with a dominant first quarter, 18-9, and maintained the tight pace for the rest of the game.
Christian Manaytay led UST’s offense with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Migs Pangilinan also stood out with 10 markers, five rebounds, and three assists.
Meanwhile, despite their defeat at the hands of the Tigers, FEU ended its season in seventh place with three wins and 11 losses, managing to stay above UST in the final rankings.
The Tamaraw’s Jorick Bautista lodged the highest contribution to this game, with 17 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
