
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 1) — Three family members were killed while six others were injured in a road crash in Calamba City, Laguna on All Saints’ Day, authorities report.
The Calabarzon Regional Police on Wednesday said two tricycles and a pickup truck collided along National Highway in Barangay Bucal around 3:30 a.m.
Initial investigation showed that the two tricycles had the right of way while traversing the highway when the pickup truck suddenly entered their lane and slammed them.
The drivers and passengers of the two tricycles instantly fell on the pavement and sustained serious injuries, according to police.
They were rushed to a hospital. However, authorities said one tricycle driver died on the spot, while two of his passengers were declared dead at the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Gilbert Palupit, Aileen Palupit, and Aleisha Gale Palupit.
Three other passengers, who were reportedly family members of the deceased, were injured.
The second tricycle only carried the driver, who was also hurt in the incident.
Meanwhile, the driver and the passenger of the pickup truck also sustained injuries.
Police said the pickup truck driver, identified as Alyssa Mae Abitria, was arrested and detained.
