Comelec: 294 disqualification petitions filed vs BSKE bets as of poll day

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 30) — Nearly 300 petitions for disqualification have been filed against candidates in the Barangay and Sangguniang Elections (BSKE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.

As of Election Day, Oct. 30, Comelec has logged petitions for disqualification against 294 BSKE bets — 223 for premature campaigning and 71 for illegal campaigning.

Meanwhile, on Election Day alone, Comelec said 74 petitions for disqualification against BSKE candidates were filed — 19 for premature campaigning and 55 for illegal campaigning.

The petitions were filed by Comelec’s \”anti-epal\” task force which is responsible for overseeing possible election offenses committed by candidates.

The campaign period for BSKE began last Oct. 19 and ended on Oct. 28.
