
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 26) — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Wednesday vowed to release the ₱12-million prize to lottery winner Antonio Mendoza, whose ticket was partially burned.
\”I will make sure that he enjoys the fruits of his winnings ASAP (as soon as possible). I wanted to put a closure on this issue,\” PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said.
The Supreme Court (SC) on Sept. 30 ruled in favor of the Lotto 6/42 bettor, and ordered the PSCO to pay his prize amounting to ₱12,391,600.00 despite the damaged ticket.
The high court held that the \”circumstances surrounding the fact that Mendoza bet in the eventual winning numbers of the lotto were clearly established.\”
