Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 25) — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Wednesday said another batch of Filipinos from Israel is set to arrive on Oct. 30, as repatriation efforts continue amid the ongoing conflict between the Jewish state and militant group Hamas.
“We are slated to receive on Oct. 30 another batch, the fourth batch of around 25,” DMW officer-in-charge Hans Cacdac told CNN Philippines’ The Source.
They are part of the 61 Filipinos, including two infants, set to return to the Philippines based on the DMW’s latest count.
Cacdac said at least 80 others are still being processed, as authorities verify if they really intend to go back to the country and that they have informed their employers of their decision.
So far, 60 Filipinos have been repatriated from war-torn Israel.
The DMW official said the repatriation is currently being done in small batches because flight bookings are currently stringent at airports.
Cacdac said flights are also being arranged in Lebanon to bring home Filipinos affected by armed confrontations between Israeli forces and the Islamist group Hezbollah.
“There are other avenues for repatriation…rest assured we are looking into the other means in which they will be repatriated out of Lebanon,” he said.
